Restorative Yoga for High School Girls

Restorative Yoga for High School Girls

High school can be a fun time in our lives to grow, learn, and figure out who we are and where we want to go. With this can come a lot of pressure to be a certain way, complete tasks, make choices, and take on heavy work loads. Our Restorative Yoga Class will focus on balancing the stress that comes with school, extracurriculars, making big decisions, friend groups & relationships, and all the to do lists that high school girls deal with every day.

Rather than moving, doing, and creating - things our high school girls are always doing - we will be resting, being, and restoring. Restorative yoga is not a work out, but rather focuses on being still and supported. Class will begin with a visualization of putting our tension on a shelf; we'll move in poses that we'll use bolsters, blankets, and blocks to support us to calm down our nervous systems; and we'll leave feeling lighter having put down our tension and creating more space and clarity.

Class is for girls in high school ages 14-18. $20 per class

Girls Yoga Club

Sunday, February 2nd

1:30-2:20pm

Our girls yoga club is created specifically for our middle school/tween girls. Our Girls Yoga Club is held at our Lakewood studio Forte - a place to find space, clarity, and feminine strength. Class will focus on giving pre-teens and teens tools they can use in their every day lives to reduce stress, promote positive body image, foster self-confidence, and enhance strength and flexibility.

Each class will include journaling (freedom to share and permission to keep to themselves), strengthening and stretching poses, breathing techniques, and restorative yoga. A class setup that fosters the permission to be who you are, the confidence to achieve your goals, and the importance of rest and self-care.

Come as you are, and we’ll meet you where you’re at (whatever mood you’re in, participate in the full class, or feel free to just be in our safe space. We respect where everyone is at and ask for the same respect in return). Class themes, discussions, yoga poses, and all class content will be gauged based upon the age groups of class and how we’re feeling that day. Here’s to a new era of confident, real, and unapologetically themselves young women.

Classes are geared for girls ages 9-14. $20 drop in

Led by Lisa - A 500 RYT and Doula

My love for all things surrounding birth began while I was pregnant with my first child in 2014. I noticed the positive effects my yoga practice had on my physical and mental body. I was fascinated with the way my body and mind changed to support a human life. Even more, it reminded me how strong, capable and made for birth my body was.

During my first pregnancy, I had already had an established yoga practice. I continued to practice regularly and also incorporated prenatal yoga. As my pregnancy progressed, I became completely amazed with all things birth. It was incredible (and really strange!?) to watch my body grow and adjust to nourish the life within my womb. But it wasn’t just physical – many mental and spiritual shifts happened too. My yoga practice was the one constant in my life during all of these rapid changes. (Aside from my husband!) For that I am forever thankful. It had such a profound impact on my pregnancies, well-being, labor and delivery that I knew I wanted to share that with other women.

I am a 500 RYT. In addition to my hours of training in vinyasa-style yoga, I completed two additional 85 hour-courses focusing on prenatal and postpartum health. I completed a course (Pre- and Postnatal Coach) through Girls Gone Strong. I’ve taken additional courses locally and nationally led by yoga instructors, doulas and childbirth educators. I am a holistic-style birth doula, studying herbalism and enjoying slow living while homeschooling my children.
